As Senior Advisor to NNPS, Associate Professor of Education in the School for Professional Studies in Business and Education (SPSBE), and Research Scientist in the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Sanders is the author of many articles and chapters on the effects of school, family, and community support on African-American adolescents' school success, and studies of schools that are working to develop their partnership programs. She is particularly interested in strategies that schools use to involve hard-to-reach families, how Action Teams meet the challenges of the six types of involvement, how schools define "community" and develop meaningful school-family-community connections, and how district leaders guide their schools to develop partnership programs. Dr. Sanders directs the Graduate Certificate Program in Leadership for School, Family, and Community Collaboration and teaches related leadership courses in the Department of Teacher Development and Leadership at SPSBE.
