Research and Evaluation

Center researchers conduct studies to increase an understanding of the nature and effects of school, family, and community partnerships and to improve policies and programs of family and community involvement at the school, district, and state levels.

The research is designed to identify structures and processes that improve the quality of family and community involvement in schools that serve families and children in diverse communities and that contribute to the academic and behavioral success of students. Other studies focus on the dynamics and effects of district leadership for partnerships, the organization and results of TIPS interactive homework in the elementary and middle grades, and antecedents and effects of parent social networks on family involvement and student learning and development.

This section includes evaluations of partnership program development conducted with data from members of NNPS and studies of family and community involvement concepts, programs, and results.
