Partnership Organization Award Winners - 2010

Three education organizations, including two Parental Information and Resource Centers (PIRCs), are winners of 2010 Partnership Organization Awards from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University. Organizations in NNPS work in varied ways. Some work “like a state” —assisting many districts and schools. Others work “like a district” —directly facilitating a number of schools with their partnership programs. All organizations must show that they guide district leaders and/or school teams to develop their leadership and programs of partnerships and help their sites joinNNPS as participants in the national agenda.

Each Partnership Organization Award winner submitted descriptions of their leadership activities and actions in 2010. The activities are part of an organization’s Leadership Action Plan for Partnerships (also submitted). Guidelines for organization leaders are found in School, Family, and Community Partnerships: Your Handbook for Action, Third Edition (2009, Corwin Press). The activities illustrate how the organization uses leadership, teamwork, funding, support from colleagues, and networking to strengthen its partnership program. Some organization activities are included in the NNPS collection, Promising Partnership Practices 2010.
