NNPS Leadership Development Conferences
New and experienced members of NNPS are invited to attend a 2-day intensive professional development experience conducted each fall. The Leadership Development Conference offers basic training and advanced workshops to help members establish and continually improve their programs of school, family, and community partnerships.
Attendees learn research-based approaches for organizing partnerships that link family and community involvement to student achievement and other school improvement goals. The strategies help meet NCLB requirements for family involvement at the state, district, and school levels.
At the Leadership Development Conference:
- State leaders (and organizations that work like states) learn to strengthen initiatives on family and community involvement and how to guide district leaders in developing their partnership programs for student success. By the end of the conference, state leaders for partnerships are able to develop a state leadership plan for partnerships for the next school year.
- District leaders (and organizations that work like districts) learn to guide elementary, middle, and high schools to develop, implement, evaluate, and sustain their partnership programs for student success. By the end of the conference, district leaders for partnerships develop a plan for the next school year to improve district-level practices and school-based programs of family and community involvement.
- School leaders of the Action Team for Partnerships learn the basic components of the NNPS School Model. By the end of the conference, school leaders know how to prepare their full team to understand family and community involvement, write a One-Year Action Plan for Partnerships for the next school year, and continue to implement activities to reach all families and to support student success in school.
The NNPS Leadership Development Conference is the place to meet the NNPS staff and network with others who are committed to increasing student success by tapping into the strengths in all families and communities.
