Join the Robotics Fever!

Max S. Hayes Vocational High School
Cleveland,  Ohio

Students at Max S. Hayes Vocational High School caught robotics fever! The school robotics team, the Surgeons of Steel, cut, welded, assembled, and programmed its own unique robots for participation in the annual FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition. In cooperation with corporate and community sponsors, the team designed and built Chaos, a robot that won the 2003 Buckeye Regional Championship and now serves as the prototype for all Cleveland TechWorks teams. Science Fair

Murray Junior High School
Saint Paul,  Minnesota

Murray Junior High School began its Science Fair to cultivate interest in science and teach the scientific method and investigative skills through a hands-on approach. This practice started in 1985 with 25 students competing at the local level and has come to be the largest single-day science fair in the state of Minnesota. More...

Start with Success at the Science Museum

Stanley M. Makowki Early Childhood Center #99
Buffalo,  New York

The Buffalo Museum of Science approached Stanley M. Makowski Early Childhood Center to form a partnership. Makowski ECC is located less than four blocks from the museum, and children frequently walk there to visit its special exhibits. The Action Team for Partnerships (ATP) welcomed a partner that could support the school’s improvement goal to teach science using a hands-on approach. The partnership also provided opportunities for school events that included educational activities for students’ families. Start with Success, an annual school event, benefited from the school-museum partnership More...
