Freshmen Transition ProgramNorth High School Eau Claire, Wisconsin Freshmen have fears coming into high school: lockers, dances, peer pressure, getting lost, appearances, grades, work load, lunch seating, social status, and others. North High wanted to make these worries either disappear or not seem so overwhelming. Sixth Grade Family PicnicWashington Junior High School Naperville, Illinois The sixth grade teachers and the Parent Involvement Team planned a family picnic to welcome new sixth graders and their parents to Washington Junior High School. The purpose was to answer questions, allay fears, and encourage parents to talk with teachers informally. The picnic also let parents meet other parents and learn more about volunteer opportunities.
