The team compiled a questionnaire for the Highlands staff to help assess and examine where additional partnerships between the school and local businesses could benefit the students and staff of Highlands. Frost Elementary School is located in the Appalachian Mountains of western Maryland in Allegany County. The school has a student body of approximately 350 students—14 regular classrooms of grades kindergarten through six, one special education resource room, one full-time media specialist, one full-time school health nurse, two teacher assistants used in kindergarten and special education, a very supportive principal, and six part-time teachers for band, music, art, guidance, speech and language services, and physical education. We have always been involved in community partnerships, but not in planned ways. We have been blessed with a good group of parent volunteers, and the Frost PTA is active, eager, and "tuned-in" to the needs of the school. More...
