PS 295 and MS 443 are separate, ethnically diverse performing arts schools housed in the same building. Many of the students’ recently arrived immigrant families speak languages other than English at home. During these meetings, which were held twice per quarter, parents learned strategies for helping their children become better students. They also gave parents an opportunity to share their stories with other parents facing similar challenges.
