Grand Blanc Community Schools - Grand Blanc, Michigan

Kay Reed and Martha Weiss, Facilitators

Martha Weiss (NNPS Key Contact), Lillian Mason (School Board President), and Kay Reed (NNPS Key Contact).

Grand Blanc is recognized for linking plans and programs of school, family, and community partnerships to overall Strategic Planning; developing a resource book for all schools on community programs and services that may help all families; and for facilitating the Action Teams for Partnerships of all ten of its schools. The schools are developing and evaluating their programs of school, family, and community partnerships.

The Facilitator in Grand Blanc has been working for three years with the National Network to assist all schools and to conduct district-level activities. The district has attended to some of the challenges that must be met for good partnerships, such as expanding the definition of “volunteers” to include those who give few or many hours, and those who help at school or at home.

How does the National Network help district leaders?

The National Network of Partnership Schools gives you the research, which proves the needs and outcomes of family involvement. The program gives guidelines and structure to develop and evaluate the program in your school/district. It gives you direction to meet the challenges to gain involvement of all families.
