“She & Me” Girls Night InRoosevelt Elementary Saint Paul, Minnesota “Achieving starts with believing.” That motto led Roosevelt Elementary to organize a girls night in for its diverse population of third-grade girls and their mothers or other significant women. The “She and Me” program invited these females to dinner, bracelet making, and career exploration. Going on to College!Families In Schools Los Angeles, California GOT College! empowers fifth- and sixth-grade students and their parents to make attending college an achievable goal. The program currently serves 714 students, 714 parents, 56 district leaders, 41 school staff members, and 105 community members. Families in Schools (FIS), a nonprofit organization, designed the yearlong program, which integrates a curriculum implemented by teachers and parent educators, student- parent workshops, university field trips, conferences, and teacher mentor professional development opportunities. Honors/AP Informational NightPacifica High School Garden Grove, California Pacifica High School students and their parents spent an evening learning about the opportunities provided by the school’s Honors/AP program.
