Partnership State Award Winners - 2009

One state department of education is the winner of a 2009 Partnership State Award from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University.  The California State Department of Education (CDE) is recognized this year for its on-going leadership in developing and strengthening policies and for sending clear messages to districts and schools about the importance of implementing programs of family and community involvement to contribute to student success in school.  California has many leaders working collaboratively and energetically on partnership program development.

The state leader for partnerships submitted descriptions of activities that advanced state policy and that encouraged districts and schools to use research-based and goal-linked approaches to link family and community involvement to contribute to student achievement and other indicators of success in school.  The activities showed how the state is building leadership, teamwork, and support to improve the quality of partnership programs at the state level and in locations across the state.
