Two state departments of education are winners of the 2008 Partnership State Awards from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University. They are recognized for providing leadership, developing policies, and sending clear messages to districts and schools in their states about the importance of implementing programs of family and community involvement to contribute to student success in school.
The state leaders for partnerships submitted descriptions of activities that advanced state policy and encouraged districts and schools to develop research-based and goal-linked programs of family and community involvement. The activities showed how leadership, teamwork, funding, and support from colleagues helped leaders address challenges to improve the quality of partnership programs at the state level. Some of the activities described below are included in the NNPS collection, Promising Partnership Practices 2008. Click on the links to see details of these practices.
