One organization, a university partner with NNPS, is the winner of a 2008 Partnership Organization Award from the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) at Johns Hopkins University. It is recognized for its work with districts and schools to help them build their capacities for developing and sustaining comprehensive, goal-oriented programs of school, family, and community partnerships. Organizations in NNPS work in varied ways, but all are expected to guide districts and/or schools in developing goal-oriented partnership programs and in linking with NNPS.
Organizations in NNPS may serve districts and schools (as state departments of education do) or only schools (as district leaders do). This year’s winner submitted descriptions of leadership activities that helped district leaders and schools’ ATPs build their knowledge and their programs of family and community involvement in order to welcome all families and increase student success in school. The activities showed how the leadership, teamwork, funding, and support from colleagues helped the organization conduct its work well.
